Woking Borough Council rejects late night levy

03 Dec
2013

Further to our previous article advising as to the intention of Woking Borough Council to consult on the possibility of introducing a Late Night Levy, we confirm that on 21 November 2013 the Licensing Committee resolution not to proceed with the Levy was put to the Council Executive and which also voted against the Levy’s implementation. The period for the matter to be called in has now expired but the Licensing Committee did state that it will look again at the merits of a Levy in a couple of years.

In this instance a representation was lodged by John Gaunt & Partners opposing the Levy. The decision highlights the importance of trade engagement in these processes and that they can impact the decisions of local councils.
